Perfect for fans of Shadow and Bone and Red Queen, The Crown’s Game is a thrilling and atmospheric historical fantasy set in Imperial Russia about two teenagers who must compete for the right to become the Imperial Enchanter—or die in the process—from debut author Evelyn Skye.

Vika Andreyeva can summon the snow and turn ash into gold. Nikolai Karimov can see through walls and conjure bridges out of thin air. They are enchanters—the only two in Russia—and with the Ottoman Empire and the Kazakhs threatening, the tsar needs a powerful enchanter by his side.

And so he initiates the Crown’s Game, an ancient duel of magical skill—the greatest test an enchanter will ever know.  The victor becomes the Imperial Enchanter and the tsar’s most respected adviser. The defeated is sentenced to death.

Raised on tiny Ovchinin Island her whole life, Vika is eager for the chance to show off her talent in the grand capital of Saint Petersburg. But can she kill another enchanter—even when his magic calls to her like nothing else ever has?

For Nikolai, an orphan, the Crown’s Game is the chance of a lifetime. But his deadly opponent is a force to be reckoned with—beautiful, whip smart, imaginative—and he can’t stop thinking about her.

And when Pasha, Nikolai’s best friend and heir to the throne, also starts to fall for the mysterious enchantress, Nikolai must defeat the girl they both love . . . or be killed himself.

As long-buried secrets emerge, threatening the future of the empire, it becomes dangerously clear . . . the Crown’s Game is not one to lose.

The crowns game is a great book. Vika is a magical being on a little island somewhere of the coast of russia. Nickolai is a young boy who lives in the city with a esteemed mentor known for traing the best enchantors. The two have to compete in a game that decides the next imperial enchantor. One day Nickolai and his freind Pasha go on a hunt on a little island where they acidenly discoverd Vika practincing her magic. This was bad for Nickolai because he will feel bad for killing her mean while Pasha was becoming quite smitten with Vika and went serching for her. Soon the games began and Nickolai made his first move. Then Vika did, again and again the two used their turns untill a birthday ball was anouced for Pasha and he invited both Vika and Nickolai but he didn't know Nickolai was competing to kill her. The two enchantors met at the ball where they danced and became sort of friends if you could count nice people that have to kill the other who like to be friends and understood each other friends. Then all of a sudden tradgey struck and the crown was passed on to a new ruler and Nickolai got on the bad side of the new ruler. I highly recomend this book and I'm going to stop here because you have to read the book to find out how it ends. I know you probally want to know more but if I continue I will sort of spoil it and I don't want to do that. :)
