I loved this novel by Cynthia Lord! It's about a girl named Catherine and her relationships with the people around her. First, Catherine has a younger brother named David and he has autism. Catherine has to teach him RULES (that's the reason why they named the book that) that other kids would automatically know. For example, don't put toy in the fish tank and keep your pants on in public are just two of the crazy rules Catherine has to teach David. Catherine also meets a boy in a wheel chair named Jason. At first, Catherine is embarrassed to be seen with him, but as the story progresses, Catherine finds out that it's okay to be different and she also learns to be herself.

I recommend this book and I think it delivers a really important message. And the plot is something a lot of people can relate to. kevin Henkes does an exellent job of creating a mental movie in my mind. I can really picture Martha's little sister Lucy and how adorable she is!

the Mighty Miss Malone is a really great book! It is written by the author of the person who wrote Bud Not Buddy and The Watsons Go to Birmingham . It is mainly about a 12 year old girl named Deza who growing up during the Great Depression and during Segregation and she is black. her father is having a hard time finding a job so the family is struggling with money. Deza has to help all her family members because they are all going a really hard time. I recommend this book highly!
