We all know that scientists are geeks while pop stars are the coolest right? So why are Will.i.am Justin Bieber, Miranda Cosgrove and others starring in a television special called 'i.am.FIRST – Science is Rock and Roll'? Could they possibly believe that science rocks? Hmmm!

The one hour television special that airs on ABC on Sunday, August 14th, from 7.00-8.00pm EST, will not only feature the stars of the entertainment world, but also, the stars of the science world - People like Dean Kamen, the inventor of the Segway and most importantly the future stars - The high school students who competed in the annual FIRST Robotics Championship - A competition designed to encourage young adults to dream of becoming science and technology leaders.

Though the competition has been around for 20 years, this is the first time it is being televised, all thanks to Will.i.am. The singer says that he was riding his segway when it occurred to him how amazing the device was. This led him to seek out its inventor Dean Kamen, who also happened to be the person behind the Robotics Championships. Will.i.am was so impressed that he had to share it with youngsters all over the world and and came up with the brilliant idea of this 'Rock & Roll' special.

So be sure to watch it tonight - For while it will be fun to see the stars it will be even more fun to see the robots competing against each other in this year's theme game dubbed LOGO Motion!

Since the show is bound to inspire you to become a science rock & roll star too, be sure to go to www.usfirst.org and check out how you can set up your own robotics group. Not in high school yet? Not to worry - The program offers something for everyone from 6-18.
